An Original Dancehall
Conveniently located near Columbus, Texas, on Highway 71 South, Schneider Hall was originally constructed as a dancehall. The dancehall was owned and operated by the four Schneider brothers – Fred, Jim, Willie, and Jake – in the 1930’s where many dances and events were held. The doors to the dancehall were temporarily closed in 1942, but there were a few more events that were hosted there in the 50’s. There was a hiatus of operations again for a period time where the hall was only used to store hay. It was not until 2009 when the Burris family used the dancehall as a venue for their daughter’s wedding reception. A complete restoration of the dancehall was completed in the spring of 2010 with fresh renovations.
