St. Patrick’s Day Crown
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day royally with custom, handmade crowns. And making these crowns is also a great way to practice fine motor skills. For example, kids will string different items onto pipe cleaners. Gather foam shamrocks, a hole punch, colorful straws, and scissors. Then cut the straws into beads. Let kids design their crowns and tiaras, and help smaller kiddos twist the pipe cleaners into a crown shape.
Put Your Stamp on It
You don’t have to buy expensive stamps at the store to create great shamrock designs. In fact, it’s easy to carve a stamp out of something you probably have in your kitchen. Shamrock Crystals
Making crystal shapes is easy, and you can end up with pretty decorations that sparkle. But because of the borax and boiling water, it’s important to help kids with this craft. Make sure kids can’t eat or breathe in the borax. Help kids twist pipe cleaners into shamrock shapes. Then boil three cups of water and add half a cup of borax for each jar. To get lots of crystals, make one jar mixture for each shape. In addition, you can add a few drops of food coloring, which might help color the crystals. Let the mixture sit overnight, and you’ll see crystals formed the next day.
