Since 1979, Schobels Restaurant has served the Columbus, Texas, community with delicious meals. Brothers Andy and Bob Schobel grew up in Columbus and wanted to share home-cooked favorites inspired by their mother Nolie “Nan” Schobel. In 2004, the next generation took over as Andy’s son Ryan stepped in. Homestyle cooking for Texas-sized appetites is the focus. You will leave the restaurant absolutely stuffed to the gills.

Belly up to the Buffet

Come with your appetite because you’ll want to try all the homecooked goodies on the lunch buffet. Several varieties of hand-carved meats will tempt you. Hard workers and big eaters have a home here. After all, no less than three Schobel family members have gone on to play in the NFL after eating in the restaurant.

You may need one plate for your fried chicken or pulled pork and another plate for just the sides. They’re serving up all your favorite comfort foods like twice-baked potatoes, green beans, and mac and cheese. The lunch buffet runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the menu changes each day, so you’ll never get bored. You may wind up eating there more than you planned.

Big, Beautiful Breakfasts

Start your day off right with something substantial. You won’t be hungry in an hour after one of their power-packed meals. You can eat like one of the Schobel NFL players. Choose “The Bill” for two incredible pork chops and two eggs of any style. “The Bengal” features crispy chicken fried steak smothered in creamy gravy with two eggs, and “The Colt” serves you a hefty New York Strip steak with eggs.

If you’re in the mood for something else, Schobels breakfasts will not disappoint. The Texas Breakfast Burrito will fill up even bottomless pits, and the Buttermilk Pancakes are fluffier than the clouds in the sky. Schobels is also your home for Eggs Benedict. It serves this American favorite four incredible ways.

Sharing Goodies With Neighbors and More

Whether you’ve lived in Columbus all your life or you’ve wandered off the interstate looking for more than a greasy fast food meal, Schobels delivers homestyle excellence. The family and staff do not want you to go home hungry or unsatisfied. There is something for everyone, and they will help you find what you’ve got a taste for. And whether you live down the street or three states away, you can take a little (or a lot) of Schobels home with you.

Each day, there are delectable pies and freshly made sausage available in the gift shop. You’ll also find an amazing assortment of candies and treats. You will never forgive yourself if you don’t try the candied pecans. Up your barbecue game with some Church Feast BBQ sauce. People you don’t even know might start showing up.
